In Person Church Services August 2021

In-Person Church Services
This summer we are going to have In-Person
services every second Sunday at the church building.  While the online services will continue every Sunday, in-person will be every second week, alternating with our church picnics.  Come join us at the church on August 8, August 22 & September 5 for In-Person services at the church.

Health protocols
Given the provincial requirements, we are required to wear masks at all times inside the building except while presenting on stage or participating in communion. Physical Distancing is also required and Hand Sanitizer will be available at each entrance and throughout the building.  We encourage everyone who is part of Clarkson Community Church to be vaccinated as part of our desire to stop the spread of COVID-19 and return to full worship services.

For more details please contact the church office.

Church Family Picnics August 2021

August Picnic Lunches
Looking forward to seeing you on August 15th.
As we begin to connect socially with our church family, we believe the best starting place is with outdoor church picnics.  Every second Sunday in August we will be at Lakeside Park in Clarkson for a picnic lunch right after our online church service.  We would love you to bring a seat or blanket and something to eat and join us from 12 – 1:30 pm on Sunday, August 15 & 29.

Please click here for the map of Lakeside Park.

Directions
From Clarkson Community Church drive west on Lakeshore Road.
Turn south on Southdown and follow the road until it turns into Lakeshore Rd again.
Lakeside Park is at 2268 Lakeshore Rd W.

Health protocols
We are outdoors, masks will not be required as long as we remain 6ft from those who are outside our household.  Please bring a mask in case you are having a conversation with someone that requires you to be closer.

As with our Sunday services, we encourage everyone who is part of Clarkson Community Church to be vaccinated when they are eligible as part of our desire to stop the spread of COVID-19 and return to full worship services and social gatherings.

Obituary

It is with mixture of sadness and thankfulness that the family of Helen O’Neill announces her passing, on Wednesday December 30th, at the age of 83, after contracting COVID-19.

Helen was the devoted wife of Jim O’Neill, and the proud mom of Craig (Laura) and Gary (Lynn). She was a loving grandma to Katie (Calvin), Jeff, Sophie, Isaac, Abby and Zoe, and great Grandma to Noah and Charlie.

She was predeceased by her husband Jim and sister Ginny, both of whom she missed dearly.

Helen will always be remembered for her strong Christian faith. Up to her last days she took great comfort in her Lord and Saviour Jesus. Even with Alzheimer’s disease stealing many of her memories she was still able to recite scriptures and songs that shaped her life.

Mom, Grandma, Helen, Mrs. O, had an impact on many lives. So many people have stories of her encouraging words, the help she provided and the difference her care made for them. She was a shining example of how to how to ‘Love your Neighbour’. She will be missed greatly.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Walden Circle Retirement Residence for their care of her over the last few years.

An online service to celebrate Helen’s life and give glory to God will be held on Saturday January 9th at 2:00pm.

Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or Kerr Street Mission in memory of Helen would be appreciated by the family.

Thursday October 1, 2020 Tablets for Impact Dominican Republic

At Clarkson Community Church, we support the Lighthouse School in the Dominican Republic.  As a result of COVID, their schooling is going online and they need tablets for their students to continue learning.  We would love your help to make this happen.

Here are some ways you can help:

  1. We are challenging our kids and youth to make encouraging lawn signs and painted rocks for people in your neighbourhood.  For every photo of an encouraging rock or lawn sign that includes #lovefromclarkson that you email to lovefromclarkson@clarksonchurch.ca we will donate $5 (up to $2000).  You can then stick the lawn sign in someone’s lawn or drop the rock near someone’s doorstep or on a local path.

  2. Parents, we want your kids to help these students, so please find jobs for them to do around your house (or in your neighbourhood) and instead of paying them, give a donation toward Tablets for Impact Dominican Republic.  We would also love a photo or video of your kids doing these jobs so we can share the stories.

  3. We know that many of you are tired of cooking at home, so for $30 someone in our church family will make you dinner, and your $30 will go toward Tablets for Impact Dominican Republic.  You can even pay for a meal as a gift for someone else!  To sign up for a meal (or to offer to make a meal) contact Joanne Eng at lovefromclarkson@clarksonchurch.ca .

  4. You can give a donation toward these tablets by giving directly at give.iteams.ca/clarksontablets
